Prison Wall (Follow up to Flash Flash Flash)

Prison Wall (Follow up to Flash Flash Flash)

A Poem by Ben Walton
"

"Drink up baby, Look at the stars."

"

I can't help but drink the stares down
as my soft lips wrap around the cold bottle
and I swallow the sea of eyes fixed on me
making sure I do nothing wrong
but I can't promise them a thing.
I can still feel the icy air;
in the auditorium, sweater season has come early;
it's chilly but the constant shaking
only brings on a sea of sweat
a thousand paper airplanes could never cross.

The air is my prison wall
and I scribble out my lines that mark the
moments
minutes
hours
days
life times
until this spotlight gets out of my eyes.
The rain of sound and song washes away the chalk;
a lifetime of innocence we swore we wouldn't leave
but couldn't wait to change to our liking.
I guess this is our liking.

Like an alcoholic trying to kick the habit: experiencing withdrawal. This is quite a profound piece of writing! The way you are able to tell a tale without using harsh language is awesome! I hope I haven't botched the meaning of your piece. It means a lot to me! Great Job!
