You Have Done Nothing

You Have Done Nothing

A Poem by Ben Walton

The moon reflects off her sundress
as she dances around her sonnet
singing the words that seem to be written on the frozen pond behind her.
Her pale skin radiates blue in the dimly lit night
and I watch her.
Pirouette after pirouette, the blue december sky lighting up her
final movements before she curtsies and I clap softly.
Her eyes widen and she begins walking towards me and stumbles lightly.
She stares up at me and says
I love you
and I say
nothing
because I don't want to say anything to break the silence
of the water flowing and the crickets chirping melodically
probably lulling her to sleep because she falls into my arms
and its too cold to notice how cold she's gotten.
Her hot breath contrasts her cold lips as she whispers in my ear
You have done nothing wrong
and I say
You have no idea.

i really really don't like the fact that you used a name after keeping the girl anonymous for so long, it just doesn't seem right
