Mechanical SaviorA Poem by HavefangswilltravelThis I’m speaking to you I’ve not caged any regret My silence has been jaded But, I will not keep quiet The chilling voice of the grave whispers to me I know not when But you, with your bartender’s patience Considers my plight of mortality """""""""""""" This sacred palace of solace This grinding mill of regret A man’s heart shall never be decided upon When at last he is at peace The skeletons fall from his closet For all the love a woman might see His eyes mask the hardness and hatred Of failings not confessed and truths never told """""""""""""" Although I find purpose in a dark room It is to hide these bloodshot eyes I’ve found peace in the lightning storm Swing the metal barb above my head I’m lucky, bartender But, I’m empty on the inside As this reaper-man inches closer I do not find myself at ease """""""""""""" I had a family once But, business is business So I drove them to slit wrists and methamphetamines I had a good life I couldn’t risk losing But, there is no remembrance of former things Nor will there be any rememberance Of later things yet to be Among these who are to come """""""""""""" Another face in the crowd, bartender, That youthful phobia has finally worn thin And I’ve resolved to be swallowed by the sea of man I’ll admit that I was bred to compete with Descartes But now I can’t compete with suicide That’s not to say I haven’t tried """""""""""""" And I can say I’ve ever seen a skull But mine has a jackhammer in it I’m old, but I like to think I’m too far gone I’m sweating blood now, bar keep I fear my time is nearly here """""""""""""" I hear you have a cure for hiccups I’ll thank you if you did the same for me I’ll work with this screwdriver If you’ll pound the hammer And together we shall create independence © 2013 Havefangswilltravel |
