Pain

Pain

A Poem by ꧁Ash꧂
"

The pain of living

"
Pain of living, thou art a monster,
A beast that stalks the shadows of each day,
A weight that drags us downward, ever downward,
To depths where hope and light no longer play.

Thou art the ache within my heart,
The burning in my lungs with each breath,
The bitter taste that lingers on my tongue,
The darkness that consumes my soul in death.

Thou art the memory of lost love,
The echoes of words once spoken true,
The shattered dreams that lie in shards,
A testament to life's unending wards.

Thou art the fear of loneliness,
The dread of failing those I hold dear,
The knowledge that this pain will last,
Through seasons that will come and disappear.

Yet still, I cling to life, I persevere,
For in this suffering, there is also strength,
The courage to endure, to keep on going,
To face each dawn, each night, with fierce defiance.

Oh, Pain of living, thou art harsh and cruel,
A master of our deepest fears and tears,
But in the end, thou art the very thing
