June 9, 2021, 9:52pmA Poem by Faith AndersonI was listening to the song "Headlights" by Squirrel Flower and the word "longing" came to my mind and heart; these are the words I could express.
The dusty blue and mysterious clouds lay
bare against the sheets of the misty sky A soft lightning flashes quickly before vanishing into the the humid air It sticks to my face It longs to wrap itself around me like a plastic film My breath cool against nit, I feel it No thunder Just crickets singing Fireflies in the distant field Soft grass I want to feel beneath my feet I long for summer nights where I'd drive fast on the roads of Kentucky Listening to the music that could put you to sleep but also refresh the brain that is exhausted I long to be out there In the silent symphony of Summer But all I can truly feel beneath my feet are the cold hardwood floors that tell me to go to sleep.
