Plan Failed

It seemed steady.

Planted.

Like a thick oak rooted in Earth.

Like an anchor in concrete.

Like a mother and child.

But we drifted so slowly.

I failed 

to notice.

like a seed in the wind

you were gone.

like a bird lost at sea

you were gone.

like a dead heartbeat

you were gone.

and i remained.

solid in my surroundings

while the wind wind carried you 

like a seed

to a distant earth

where you could be planted

this wasn't supposed to happen.
