The Measure of a Man (male of the species)

The Measure of a Man (male of the species)

A Poem by Le' Pugh'
"

This was inspired by a poem written by Brianna Brie

"

What is the measure of a man?

Faithfulness and strength... peace in the face of adversity...

Joy when there seems to be no good reason.

A man's worth is not in what he has or does but in the treasures that lie in his spirit.

Not in the friends he chooses, but in the friend he is.

Too few men possess anything more than a head of stone and a heart of mush.

Too many believe in everything, or nothing at the cost of all.

They are:

Too often unaccountable…

Too blissfully irresponsible…

Too utterly inconsistent…

What is the measure of a man?

To teach with actions and lead in love…

To walk in purity and treat a young lady as such…

To possess a clean heart and ache for the faithless...

To know what you know and have trust in the one, true God…

What is the measure of a man?

Knowing you’re touching the heart of the weak with strength,

Doing the right and the good no matter what others may think,

Walking the path that is narrow and the way that is true,

Always remembering that, somewhere…

Some little one is watching you.

If you ask the measure, I’m not sure I would be,

The shining example when you look at me,

But, still I’ll keep striving as hard as I can,

To show you the measure of a man.

The picture is my grandad. He was, to me, the picture of strength in a world of constant storms.
I'll never forget the example he gave us.

To show you the measure of a man.

I like your humble ending. The best any of us can hope for is to strive for the mark. Well done.

Very good. Well stated. I had a simplier version I would tell everyone. "Always keep your nose clean. It is the view a child sees when they look up to you." Think about it. ;)
