If I Wore a Big BowtieA Poem by Le' Pugh'Why, oh why?If I wore a big bowtie, Or just forgot to zip my fly, Would you point out my offense? Or have a laugh at my expense? Doctor, soldier, politician, Butcher, baker or beautician, Do you judge by occupation? Adjudicate by situation? And if my face were red or brown, Or white or black, my gaze cast down, By pigment; would you classify? Is color where your hatred lies? What justifies our heart’s decision? When we spread about derision, Mark our souls with utter blight, Drawing others to our plight? Would that all would take a verse, And realize their action’s cursed, Whenever they repeat this sin, No! Righteousness is found within! And righteousness, there is no doubt, Will never be found hanging out, Where judgment is within one’s mind, Destruction is not far behind.
