Happy Birthday Dad

Happy Birthday Dad

A Poem by FamaSemperVivat
"

Re-written to echo another year of missing my father on his birthday.

"

Today,Dad would have been
your ninety-sixth birthday.
Had you won that battle

with cancer sixteen years ago.

The cake today that I'll bake
the one we've always made.
In honor of your special day.

So as I wait for the cake to bake

in memory of your special day.

You may no longer be here in body
I can still feel your spirit.

Today marks a new beginning,

sis is getting married, to the man

you grew to love, as a son.

This I know, your spirit still
stands beside me as I go through
the challenges surrmounting.

Dad you know you'll always be
the most important man to me.
May you now rest in peace.

Just a quick note to tell the world
that you were and are my number one.
So today as I write, I'll celebrate

Happy Birthday Dad,

you're sorely missed,

wish you were here so I
could give you a hug and a kiss.

Author's Note

FamaSemperVivat
Re-write to echo another year without my dad and to add that my baby sister is marrying the man she's lived with for 30 years today. I think dad is watching their wedding day with a smile on his face from heaven.

I hope that my lil girls will one day speak of me so tenderly. This is beautiful and very heartfelt indeed. Gentle reminisces of a man who meant so much to you.

I too lost my father to cancer at only 42. I was only 15 so he missed most of the main events in my life. What a lovely way to remember your dad. Keep on penning.

I lost my father to cancer. He seems frozen at the age that he died. I do know how much he would have loved to have another grandson, and to see the direction my life has turned.

Beautiful dedication to your Dad. I know your dad is smiling down on you, lovely poem. My daddy past away many years ago, my mama just over a year ago. Their spirits live on forever in us. Thank you so much for sharing. *hug* David

This is such heartfelt and emotive poetry. He must have been a special man to have the sort of love you so gently write about...love is eternal it can never die. Your father will smile reading your poem

A wonderful poem in his honor. ^^* Whatever we do on this earth is based on human desire or lack thereof. But once we become something more we truly understand the process of life and forsake hungers of the flesh in order to truly bask in the wisdom of the universe.
