You Said

You Said

A Poem by Ian Lundin
"

I can still remember that night like it was yesterday's. Dated 06-22-02

"

You couldn't speak into my eyes
So you looked away and started to cry
I was saying goodnight
While you were saying goodbye

Sitting here
On the brink of disaster
A wasted tear
Falls just a little faster
Sitting here waiting
For you to come around

You said that we were out of time
That I'd be better off and you'd be fine
I couldn't think at all, but I managed
"So long, have a good time."

And so you cried
While I comforted you
One last time hoping to find
Something left to do
But you said,
"I'm sorry." And we were through.

Please understand, this isn't getting over you
Because I never did get over you
I move on only because there's nothing else to do
But I never did get over you.

Writing is like a one way window. You open the blinds but you still can't see out, even though the whole world can see in. It's the ideas that I can't yet express that drive me forward. Someday I hope.. more..
