Never A Romantic Red

Never A Romantic Red

A Poem by Fallen Phoenix
"

So, for the last while I've been song writing so this is actually the first time I've written a poem in about a year, hence the long inactivity, will try get back into more poetry writing

"

This is a red, not the colour of love.

Nor the red with which the sun bids us farewell.

It comes not from happiness,

Or wonderful views,

It is a red you never would choose.

Not pricked by the thorns of a deep red rose.

Nor caused by a fall in childhood games.

Not scratched by the puppy,

Excited to see.

This is not how the blood was taken from me.

Please stop romanticising, or fanaticising.

Don’t glorify these acts.

For never was it taken for beauty,

Nor taken for art,

It was taken direct from a pain deep in my heart.

Don’t be fooled by the pretty poems and deep tweets.

It’s a pain that should not be there, it isn’t welcome,

For sitting alone,

Ripping your skin,

Is not a romantic place to be in.

It’s dark and it’s cold, far from cool and romantic,

Never find yourself wanting to visit because of nice things you hear.

For this red is not of a lover,

Or of a red rose,

This is a red I wish I never chose.

Young guy from Ireland who doesn't quite understand what's going on inside him. I guess a lot of what I write is pretty dark, unfortunately. Inspiration comes rarely to me, but when it does it comes f.. more..
