The Starting Line.A Chapter by FallenFateThe first chapter of this book, hopfully, I will finnish this one. This is where it started, the beginning and where it would end. For her, we hope it doesn't end like this; but it might as well. This is the story of the young, pretty, Rowan Williams. It could be a sad story, depending on how you look at it. She feels sad most of the time though. She doesn't want to feel sad anymore though. This is her story...
I don't want to move...I can't. I won't do it. Rowan thinks to herself as she grips the small blade that she had already popped out of a shaving razor the night before. Her hands are trembling now as she holds the sharp edge to her sore wrists. She has many other cuts and scars on her arms. They go all the way up to her elbow, the worst one is about three inches below the crook of her elbow. It's been there for at least three days now and she keeps going over it whenever she feels the need. She presses the rusty blade to her soft, scarred skin and makes a new cut along her wrist. A line of blood seeps out of the wound and she goes over the same line about five or six times until the blood runs freely. A sob catches in her chest and she cries harder. She was a freak and she knew it. She also knew that when they moved to The Middle Of Nowhere, Colorado, she would be be made fun of. Even more than she was know. She had friends here, they were her close comfort, her extended family. They knew alot about her, but not everything. But then again, she didn't know eveything about herself either. (Keep that in the back of your mind for later.) What could she do? She couldn't do anything except deal with this problem anyway she could; this is how she was dealing. By the time she had finnished, both of her arms were covered in multiple lacerations. They were all bleeding and she took a towel from her floor and wiped off the red liquid; they were stinging and she closed her eyes. What have I done to myself now...What had she done? She had made the same mistake for the millionth time. This was definatly not the first time.
An annoying buzzing sound accompanied a vibration that made Rowan wake up from her sleep. She didn't open her eyes, but her hands searched for the source of the interuption. Her hand felt something hard, plastic, familiar. Her phone. She slid phone open to see what was going on with the stupid thing. She had a new text message from 'Kat'. One of her close frinds. She wanted to know if Rowan was going to school today. Rowan groaned, ignored the text, and checked the time. She groaned again when she saw that she had ten minutes to get ready. She threw her hone to the end of her bed and fell back to sleep... Darkness. That's what always came first in these dreams. I couldn't breath, something was blocking my airways. Water. It was black water, no matter how hard I struggled, she couldn't reach the surface. I clawed and reached for what I thought was up, the way out. I broke through the water and took a deep breath. But when I did, I breathed in smoke and I choked out water and smoke. A strong hand came from the darkness of the water, gripping my arm and yanking me out of the water. A strong torso was attatched to the hand, and a beautiful face accompanied the perfect body. He seemed almost godlike compared to me, I felt small and helpless when he touched me. I tried to thank him, but he only put a finger to my lips and smiled. He leaned down, as if to kiss me. For a brief moment, his perfectly sculpted lips touched mine... A hand touched Rowan's arm, waking her. She jumped, sat up quickly, clutching her throat. She relaxed when she saw that it was only her mother. "Rowan, hunny, you're late for school." Rowan nodded and pulled the sheets off of her. Her mom told her to hurry, then walked out, closing the door behind her. Rowan went through the same rutine as everyday of her short life. The process took about fifteen minutes and when she was done, she dragged herself into the livingroom and grabbed the car keys. "I'm getting in the car!" She yelled to her mom and her day started. Nothing happens in Rowan's life really. She didn't have a boyfriend, but she looked forward to her last period, art. There, she could make what she wanted and see the boy she had liked since Sixth grade. Jay. He had black hair that flipped perfectly into place. When he looked at her, she could see his beautiful green eyes, lined with long eyelashes. To her, he was perfect. To him, she was perfect. "Hello, Rowan," Jay smiled at her. Rowan's heart stuttered in her chest and she greeted him back. How much longer of this could she take? They both knew they liked eachother, and it seemed like they were dating. But when someone asked if they were, Rowan had to reluctantly say no. She was growing tired of this routine and she wanted to break it. "Jay...you like me, right?" he nodded and looked into her everchanging eyes. She took a deep breath and said what she had been dying to say for almost three years. "Then why don't we go out?" He thought about it for a moment. "Are you asking me out?" Rowan thought, and nodded. "I guess I am." "Sure, I would love to." Rowans grinned and hugged him. "You have no idea how much that means to me." she whispered to him. © 2010 FallenFateAuthor's Note
