Love and Death: Part 2

Love and Death: Part 2

A Poem by FallenAngel2012

It was too much for him to bare.

He had hurt so many people

But only one of them

Mattered to him.

He didn’t know until it was too late.

Until he realized how much

Pain,

Hurt,

Despair

He had caused her.

He wondered how he could’ve been

So stupid,

So blind,

So hurtful.

He wondered why he did this.

“What ifs” went through his mind.

“What if I hadn’t screwed her over?”

“What if I hadn’t put her through s**t?”

“What if I had told her ‘I love you’?”

He felt so much pain.

He was dying inside.

Without her, he would be

Empty,

Lifeless,

Dead.

The letter broke his heart.

It was her suicide letter.

The one that explained it all.

He thought long and hard about

Where she could be.

The letter said nothing about how she would do it.

Just why.

And the main part of the “why” was him.

Drowning

Seemed like what she would do.

He got in his car and drove to her favorite place.

The ocean that was hidden by rocks.

No one would find her.

It took him five minutes to get there,

But it seemed like forever.

He saw her car parked there.

The engine was still warm.

There was still a chance she’d be alive.

He ran to the edge of the dock

Screaming.

He knew he was too late.

He dove in

And found her at the bottom.

A weight tied to her foot.

She looked so peaceful,

So serene.

He wrapped his arms around her.

He felt the familiarity of her.

She screamed.

He screamed and whirled her around.

Claimed her lips as his own

And never let go.

He motioned upward.

She shook her head no.

This pain had to end.

He pulled.

She pulled back.

The she collapsed.

He screamed.

He knew how close she was to death.

He wouldn’t be able to live without her.

She was letting go.

He wasn't.

She struggled to open her eyes.

But couldn't.

And mouthed the words

She never got the chance to say,

"I love you."

She died in his arms.

He cried out.

He would rather die.

Life was meaningless now.

He never knew

Until this moment

How much he needed her,

How much he loved her.

Everything was so peaceful,

So serene.

The only noises were his screams.

He did the only thing he could do.

He tied the rope around his leg

And died just as she had,

Mouthing the words

“I love you.”
