The ShadowA Story by Cold Truth
The Shadow, it drags along behind the man as he walks along the dark road, not knowing where he will be at dawns light. The man stops at a gas station, the shadow quickly lurks away to avoid being seen by the two men inside. The man walks in to the barely lit building to grab some snacks and a drink, but as he walks up to the register the cashier stared him down, he had a dark glare in his eye. The shadow was behind the man, moving around as a figure while the man just stood still. The cashier asked him about it, the man quietly said, "it's my soul, waiting for me to move."
The cashier was trembling lightly, as he closed the gas station and quickly walked out to his car, he opened the driver side door, but as he sat down in his seat he noticed that the man was sitting with him. They just stared for a moment, then the cashier said, "What do you want from me?And your shadow, why does it move on its own?" The man said, "I told you, it doesn't like to be still...". As if that weren't creepy enough for the cashier, he started his car and drove off with the man in it, they drove for hours on. They came up close to a town, it was called Hudson. The man finally got out, without saying a word, and walked to a graveyard by a roadside, it was the grave of the cashier's brother. The cashier had been drinking that night and it was him moving he had realized, but that wasn't important now, the important thing is that he finally understood the man, that man was his brother, his brother was still alive.
