Pretence

Pretence

A Poem by FaithfullyJennyBear

Don't speak to me,

I don't want your words.

Don't think of me,

I don't want your thoughts.

Don't look at me,

I don't want your eyes.

Don't smile at me,

I don't want the curved lips.

You may be happy,

When you see me down.

You may be down,

When all I do is smile.

All I'm saying is that I'm giving up care.

My heart will be locked away.

Throw away the key.

Can't stand this heart ache anymore..

It hurts too much to know

When I see you,

You want me dead.

Do you not care for me?

I thought you loved me?

I guess not..

My heart like the 'love heart' sweet.

You just crush beneath your fist.

Thanks for the pretence.

Powerful poem filled with angst and resolution. I love your imagery, especially these lines:

All I'm saying is that I'm giving up care.
My heart will be locked away.
Throw away the key.

The ending is pure brilliance! Definitely ties the entire poem together and adds the power to the poem. Wonderful write!

Sometime like you stated in your poem. Better to have distance. Allow the pain to disappear quicker. A sad and strong poem of love disappointments. A excellent poem.

Its a two way street. Care isn't just given at a constant. If you open up to people but not follow through with emotions and feelings then these emotions appear false to the people who truly give a s**t.

Love is something that unfortunately will destroy me at some point and I choose to not have much of an opinion it these days

It was no-ones fault that you have decided to lock away your "heart", except your own

You're just putting a show into the picture, a show of false pretences and lies

Follow through with things and life will be fine.
