2A Chapter by Eliza Jones
"Limber man? what Limber man?" I ask, trying to stifle my rising panic. "did luke let you watch a scary movie?"
Steaven stomps his foot on my plush purple carpet, and tugs on the sleeve of my bright blue nightgown. "No! The wood cutter man thingy!" "A LumberJack?" He stomps again. Tugs again. "Dat's what i've been trying to tell you! While you and Sara were still 'sleep, the limber man came in and told me mommy and daddy were gone. He said I needed to wake up you and Sara. He said me, Sara and you had to go to a special place. Come on!"
I leap out from my cozy comforter. "Steaven, go to Sara's room. Stay there while I get this sorted. out. And," I lower my voice to a conspiratorial whisper, "You can take turns playing games on my phone." 'Yayy!" he shouts, temporarily forgetting about our missing parents and big brothers. I wish I were that excited for what I had to do. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ When I walk down the stairs and into the sitting room, Im hit by a wave of shock. The man sitting there looks like he could be my father- I never looked much like either of my parents, or my older brothers. However, Sara, Steaven, and I are obviously brother and sisters. We have the same clear bluegreen deep set eyes, shiny nutmeg hair, and fair skin. Same thin lips, and elvish, mischievous faces. Same small ears and nose. Same slight, petite frame. Almost all of which we share with the man sitting in front of me. He has the same eyes, ears, mouth, and brown hair as me. the same face. But he is more broad, and has a stubbly beard. His eyes aren't quite as deep set. Hes wearing jeans and a plaid shirt. No wonder Steaven thought he looked like a lumberjack. "Libby. Oh, how I have missed you, sweetheart. What a beautiful young women you have grown into. You look just like your mother and I." © 2014 Eliza Jones |
