Unsent

Unsent

A Poem by William
"

Well, now I have a break-up poem. Can I call myself a poet now? :D The image is an oil painting by Zdzisław Beksiński; I'm afraid I don't know its name.

"

Ideas, fallacies and lies

They fall apart then merge together

Please, tell me there was something else

That I could burn into my heart forever

Please hold me as you used to long ago,

Back when love meant something more

Make me wonder what your smile means,

Show me your soul in the way we’d kiss,

My every letter's filled with pain,

Every stroke you make conveys your hope

The ink I pour is pure torment,

Watercolor is your purest joy

I tore away my flesh and bone,

You showed how bright the sky could ever be

Deaf and blind, both you and me,

We put ourselves in jeopardy

Someone played a foul trick

Hate and love don't mix together

We pulled each other closer to the brink,

Now you’ll move on and I will walk alone forever

I hope you'll find someone to share

All the love that is inside you

Someone to bring you comfort and caress,

Someone who’ll live this life through with you

I'm grateful for the time we spent together,

I will remember how we folded paper ships,

I won't forget them being taken by the water

And how we laughed and how I stole your kiss

I bid goodbye. I hope you'll love some day,

In truest way, when love's received as it is given

Stay as you are, so pure and blissful

And see the world’s benevolence at hand.
