Continuing..A Chapter by Faisal
High school was no different than school. Just a new uniform and a change of friends. To be specific, the number of friends just decreased a little. In other words, I could unravel who my true friends were.
"Rey! you jerk! Where have you been so long?"- This was Salein. My best friend for the past ten years. Knew him since I was in primary school. He is not the smartest kid around but he is certainly the one who you can trust with your life. "Hey Salein. I was just a little caught up you see. That's all." "Well that's a relief."said Salein. "I thought you were dead or something. Never mind that, lets head back to the class. Jennifer and the others are waiting for us." Ah Jennifer! the only girl who could take my breath away. I will be lying if I said that I didn't like her. But to be honest, I never brought together the courage to tell her. In fact, I kept lying to myself that I didn't like her. And besides, she was one of the most popular girls back in school. Things won't be any different in high school either. But she too was a friend I could trust in. A friend who would reach out her hand to me even if I had fallen in the deepest of trenches. "Rey, Salein! finally, what took you so long?"- Jennifer's melodious voice made my heart skip a beat. She is a great singer after all. Her voice is one of the most melodious ones you will ever hear. Other than that, she was also a good violinist. Ever since we were little, she would show me her skills with the violin and I would be mesmerized every time. Getting my breath back I said, "Hey Jennifer, how have you been?" "Oh just the usual." Her voice maintained that constant tone of her's as she kept talking through till the start of our class. First day of high school. Our orientation was quite pleasing. There were alot of new faces which was the only thing that made most of us nervous. But a few days together and we would get along just fine. And besides, not all of them were new. In fact some were quite familiar. Ron being one of them. Ron. Smartest boy in the class. I've known him from middle school. Quite joyful he was. Never saw him depressed, until recently that is. Ever since the start of junior high, he seemed upset about something. That smile of his had gone missing all on a sudden. Something was definitely wrong. But we never understood what. And on top of that, he started smoking cigarettes. That wasn't like him. Anyways, this is us. Awaiting for the start of a new end.
