Chapter Two: Silence

Chapter Two: Silence

A Chapter by Emma Lee

Mousepaw and Rowanpaw went awhile without saying anything. Rowanpaw laid down and started to eat the mouse, while Mousepaw lounged out in the sun, by the river.

Rowanpaw swiped his tongue around his muzzle, and he stood up. He padded over to the river and bend his head to get a drink, “Do you even believe in Starclan?” Mousepaw asked, opening his eyes and looking up at his brother.

He lifted his head and licked a drop of water off his nose. He looked down at Mousepaw, “No.” He turned away from his brother and started to walk away, wanting to explore.

Mousepaw lifted his head and watched his brother way off toward the small stretch of woods not to far off. He looked down at his reflection in the river, “He doesn’t believe in Starclan? I guess that explains a lot… He always said things happen for a reason… But the fire? Us being separated from the Clan? What would be the reason for that?” He asked his reflection.

He sighed and rested his head on his paws, he watched himself in the water. The water started to change, it got darker, and start appeared on the surface, like it was the middle of the night. Mousepaw stood up, taking a step back, “What’s…?” He looked up at the sky then back at the river.

He gasped, a starry cat stood on the surface of the water. It was a gray cat, with star’s in it’s fur, “Mousepaw.” It spoke, “Mousepaw of Fireclan. Oh, how I hated watching my old Clan be burnt to a crisp.” The cat made of stars, said walking forward."

“Your clan? Who… Who are you?” Mousepaw asked, taking another step back as the figure got closer.

“I am Smokestar, once Fireclan’s leader, this is where the clan lived, long before they found the canyon.” He explained, “You and your brother, Rowanpaw… You two… You hold great power…”

Mousepaw stayed silent, watching the stary Clan leader.

“Follow your heart, Mousepaw, you and your brother will be the ones to fix what FireClan has done.” Smokestar said, his figure faded and the river fell back into it’s normal color.

“Wait!” He called out, but the leader was gone, and he was left alone.

A short chapter. But you open the door to some mystery and history of the Fire clan. A very interesting chapter. I look forward to reading more.
