The Story of a Monster/Growing UpA Poem by Emma LeeMore late night thoughts.
There a monster in my closet
I can hear it snarl and scratch at the door It's hairy with huge claws and fangs It calls out to me and I scream, hiding under my blanket My dad bursts through my bedroom door He's here to save me from the monster, wipe away my tears There's a monster in my closet I can hear it taunt me and calls me names It's small and quiet, with vicious words It laughs at me and I cry, hiding under my blanket My dad opens my bedroom door He's here to save me from the monster There's a sweater in my closet My blanket is folded nicely on a shelf The monster is back My dad isn't here to burst through my bedroom door He can't save me from the monster anymore I reach out and slowly turn the knob I have to face the monster in my closet © 2014 Emma LeeAuthor's Note
