A Letter to My Father

A Letter to My Father

A Poem by Emma Lee

Dear dad,
I don't know how to tell you this,
So I wrote you this letter.

We don't always get along,
We don't always understand each other,
Sometimes, we disagree,
Other times, we silently ignore each other,
Moving through the motions without a glance.

But, there is something I want you to know,
Even though the bad,
Can sometimes outweigh the good,
Do you remember all the good times?

The day you brought me a new pink bike?
All the skinned knees you bandaged?

The day you taught me how to fish?
All the times you tucked me into bed?

The day you let me drive your new boat?
All the times you called me to say goodnight?
The day you taught me how to play poker?
All the times you laughed with me?

Dad,
I want you to know something,
I love you,
And no matter what happens between us,
We will always have something,
I will never have with anyone else.

Love,
Your Little Bean.

Thank you for sharing the beautiful poetry. I have three daughters. The poem told the truth. Girls can test their father. A outstanding poem.
