How to Forget YouA Poem by D Alan Johnstone
One day, you'll reach out
and I won't be around. I wrote this down to remember, but memories are fleeting... I long for these recollections to depart and lead me to a place ...a restful space where I'm not defined by the one I'm thinking of and nerves die off from misrepresented love. ...Where I no longer praise you. I long for aphasia. Axons won't lend themselves to pain. What remains is only blissful ignorance, and never again will the love once-felt occupy every moment in this damaged brain.
