The Dream of Heaven That Was Never To BeA Poem by Fading PoeticWritten 2011The cold hatred of your lips on mine, I feel the venom slip from your tongue. The lies and the love, The promises that you made, Know that I shall take them all to the veil. Heaven was a dream, A lie that you built, A perfect rose planted on an open grave, And it pains me to say what was always the truth, But the truth weighs heavy as the dirt's shoveled down. The paradise we made now lies in ashes, Heaven has burned and hell reclaims, And if you could see it I know you would smile, But you'll never see, My world exists free of you. And though I did dream this dream in a dream, In life unlived your memory forever will burn, Six feet down now I look towards the sky, My eyes closed to heaven your vision will burn, The memory of you will lay fading. © 2012 Fading PoeticAuthor's Note
