From First To Last

From First To Last

A Poem by Crazy Claire
"

This is an elegy we had to write for school. It's kind of rough, just saying.

"
Cradled in my arms, I saw her heart
for the first time.
And I smiled at her, though very weakly.
I saw her cry, for the last time.
Her breath caught in mid-air,
and was swept away by the devils.
While the rain poured down, I buried her
in my memories.
I told her I was sorry,
for the first and the last time.
And that night, I cried, for what appears
to be
the last time.
So, without her, life left me behind
suffocating, gasping, reaching out, but
not being acknowledged.
Never before have I missed one
quite like I miss her.
But I have forced myself to move on,
if moving on is coping
with all the rage.
So let my breath catch in mid-air,
and be swept away by the angels.
Oh, please, please let me cry.
For one last time.
