Blinking

Blinking

A Poem by Crazy Claire
"

The typical day, through my eyes.

"
Open, close, open, close.
Open is ugly,
Close is blinding.
Eyes bring nothing but torment.
Stand up. Walk straight.
"Don't fall..." it whispers.
Get dressed. Prepare self.
Put on guard.

Go to school. Wear smile.
"What does it matter?" it questions.
Write until broken. Laugh until it's over.
Make jokes. Talk about nothing.
"Nobody cares!" it hisses.
Eat food. Play along. Breathe.
Make sure guard doesn't slip.

Walk away. Blast music.
Lock self up. Work patiently.
"Loner. Loser. Moron." it says.
Don't speak. Don't think. Let the music think
in replacement of self.
Eat. Smile. Nod. Shower. Lock self away,
once again.
"You're all alone." it screams.
Let guard fall.
