Cast Aways – or The cost of the Emerging ChurchA Poem by FrankThe minister had made an agreement with the house maid’s family, that his son would pay for the child until the age of sixteen years, provided the servant’s family moved away and the agreement and eveHe watched from the bowling lawn His
grandson play with friends He
longed to speak to him, nervous he
sauntered over to be near to the boy and
offered mints that his daughter had
loved as a child
He had
travelled from early morning to reach here
midday, to watch the boy play. He had planned
it for some time and now the day had arrived.
The boy demurred, refusing the proffered bag as
Mam had taught him, never from strangers
Half a
century and a few more years later The
boy remembered the old man, his silky sleek white
hair, his beaming smile his smart attire
and his gentlemanly manner. And the boy
wondered who that man was © 2015 FrankAuthor's Note
