Life's Pleasures

Life's Pleasures

A Poem by Candice Grierson
"

just a little something..nothing special really

"

I will not bend or break under prejudice,
and though this fat makes my bones brittle,
I will stand tall;
I am independent,
only I can break my fall.
I walk briskly into this world of time and space,
staring every injustice boldly in its face
of life's pleasures I have had the sweetest taste,
but slowly bitterness takes its place...
I await the caress of a gentle breeze
I wait expectantly upon the sun's warm embrace...
of lifes pleasures i've had the sweetest taste...
my smile does not reach my eyes,
they show no eagerness or suprise,
they are but windows full of lies,
but they shine at a word wise,
or a familiar face,
or when my heart beats at a pleasant face...
ah!
of life's pleasures I have had the sweetest taste!
