Stop the lossA Poem by John FitzgeraldAfter viewing two hours of The Winter Soldier on line I had to write something to truly support our troops.
Stop the loss,
Stop the loss of all human principles
It is in times of “Universal Deceit” speaking out
Becomes the only act of valor.
Dehumanization doesn’t begin with war
It spreads, disease-like;
Infecting nations, their leaders, and all humanity
Long before the first weapon is fired.
Stop the loss of a dialogue.
Gook, cockroach, maggot, hajji, and liberal
Are just a few of these dehumanizing terms,
Which bring a halt to discussion, and healthy dissention.
The capacity for good, as well as evil exists in every one of us;
The occupiers, as well, are humans; but when is enough; enough?
Absolute power will not give it up willingly
It has to be wrested from those who use it for their own personal gain;
Thoughtless to the suffering and oppression of all else.
Stop the loss of individual power as
It starts here in our neighborhoods.
They are poor; they are ignorant; they don’t know enough to make decisions for themselves.
We all need to take responsibility for what is happening
To ourselves, our communities, and to our youth;
Stop killing the energy, hope, and the potential of the young;
Instead channel their natural, energetic curiosity to informed action.
Finally, here in the United States, while our freedoms are still guarded by our constitution
Stop the loss of care and concern.
Or,we will be next!
