"Weeping Woman" by Pablo Picasso, 1937
Outpouring
crossing my intention with remiss a
damp chill seeks out the marrow .....
bone words

lavender, beige,            mint and
Lebanon cedar
sea salts and
frankincense.

things of Egypt                    things of tombs

like cinder blocked, bare knuckled ......buckled and strapped
scratching behind walls

time swallows hard to keep it down
our eye lashes flutter and ripple the oceans

our skin lays chard in clumps across the floor
flight paths of attempted escapes
crisscrossed contrails of bloody pulp
orange peeled entrails,
agent orange burnt eyes

smells never forgotten
always unspoken.

this weeping
this outpouring

These tears especailly from the "weeping women" must touch the heart and soul of people living in safe countries like my own, and the depth of the semi- abstract images you paint with words has to be felt as well as seen.
Those who survive damaged for life with invisible scars ,and as always i think of the children in war ... :((

Yes, Agent Orange, Vietnam...wars have such lasting after effects.
we never really get over them.
You do this with your usual flair.

This is a very haunting and vivid portrayal of anguish and traumatic memories. The imagery leaves the reader with a profound sense of loss.

Going back in time, cruelty wept the goodness out of seasons and generations. Hitting the weak, desecrating what was considered holy, spiritual, vital. And (like it or not) that is how history and its wars and battles Man against Man have become acceptable because they are in all ways, inevitable. One day a gentle being will tell that if the first wars had been successful.. why have armies, countries and the evil searched for the final success - kill the lot of us. Cynical but worth thinking.. thanks to you and your monumental write, sir.

These are hard words that seem like remnants of history and all the nightmares the past - maybe experiences - it brings. Small petty things are put into microscopic focus. Nights are danger zones.

This is scary.

Outrage, travesty, atrocity, obesity, insanity. Disgust, mistrust, world lust. Broken pieces gathered together, pieced together into a Frankenstein monstrosity. Nothing makes sense, least of all logic, only feelings remain. A wonderful write Einstein.

This very poignant poem could speak of any war, ; you use the word "agent orange" which i believe is from the Vietnam War....it doesn't matter which one... war is tragic and leaves those who survive it with many physical and mental problems.... your words are so perfect to portray war and its after effects....very strong and demanding of read..."flight paths of attempted escapes", and so many more descriptive phrases to show us that we will never forget....
Warmly, B

Sounds like a bad case of PTSD! Perhaps a soldier who has seen combat and seen comrades badly injured and killed. Impossible to "unsee" that sort of tragedy. Every bit of the scene...the smells, the sights, the sounds...stays with a person. E, this is a powerful write. Love the Picasso artwork. Lydi**

dearest E... we have tall Cedars of Lebanon surrounding the back yard of our Home built in 1988. We feel the shadows of Biblical words. An Old Cherry Tree blooms each Spring long before our Crepe Myrtle Trees. Ancient memories seem to fill our Soul with Sadness as the Wind whispers to the Weeping Willow. We lay our Head on the Pillow of Discontent as Time becomes our Savior. Mourning has Broken like the First Mourning Black Bird is singing like the First Bird (a Song sung by Cat Stevens, Your Poetry has the sound of Violins. Softly, Pat
