The Leak

The Leak

A Poem by Einstein Noodle

Slab Leaks and Pinhole Leaks in Orange County, CA | SERVPRO of Laguna Hills / Laguna Niguel

The Leak

flared copper,
pressure fittings or

a mix of solder and flux
the crux of clean silver joining

sweat joints

Propane          -          green/blue flame
wrap singed, singing pipe

tears condense inside the crusted walls and
prevent the perfect union

the furious writing gone
arms and hands cringe and contract

without direction
and now

leaking

And always remember to sandpaper the pipe before spreading the flux.

Not an easy thing ... soldering copper or writing poetry and yet you combined both in this poem E. Yes, just when you think you've done the job properly there's a leak ... a little bit of crud spoiled the procedure and it's twice as much work to re-do ... draining the pipe and drying it before starting again ... and right in the midst, that devilish little Muse slides in and lays down something you know you won't remember but you can't leave the job unfinished.

Word to the wise ... do not hold copper pipe in your hand when soldering, no matter how long ... instant lesson in heat transference. Oweeeee!!!

Well done here E.

It breaks we try and fix it. Sometimes things break that are irreparable and then what?

We learn to live with the broken for all to see, then perhaps it’s more of a minds eye reality, then, well then it just becomes part of our daily life - broken and yet perfectly meant to be.

This reminds me of the rise and falls, the continuity of life - we must keep going.

Love ya my friend X

Going to see a lady about a shop today - wish me luck- I need it ❤️😊

This pretty much describes how I go about tinkering with a poem. While other poets write from a tear-stained pillow or some such soft emotional perch, I'm down here in the basement tweaking words & torquing my rhyme into a tight fitting slathered with joint compound. I am so unemotional & unfeeling, nary a tearful leak ever escapes from one of my little solder jobs. It's so nice being a woman becuz I can go weedwhack rattlesnakes when I'm feeling macho, but then I can call a man to fix my plumbing (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

There is a poetry in a leak or blown tire. I think poets can find the poetry everyone and you did this with this poem. I think the universe exists in the simplest of copper pipes. Well done!

Sometimes our writing is like a leaking pipe. Bursting to get out what is inside but sometimes held within a tube of complex thoughts

Ha! What a curious topic. I enjoy seeing the things others choose to write about. A water leak. How basic, yet look what you've done? Gone and made it something to be worthy of.
Love it!

The above lines stood out to me. You could feel the fleeting things being lost. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Hello my friend and I hope you are doing well, having some fun. You are welcome.
That what You are great with! You take something simple and turn it into brilliance!! GREAT GREAT AND BRILLIANT one Mr. E! I see the leak as a heartbreak, or as a flaw we all have.

"tears condense inside the crusted walls and
prevent the perfect union"

those words are wonderful, they speak to me of facing and enduring too much until the breaking happens, we need balance between mind and heart, strength and softness in order to deal with it a "perfect union" as You say :)

Inspite of the best pressure fittings and soldering, the best metals and alloys, the most superbly engineered of us can't help being blocked sometimes and leaking at other times. Life is a tough plumber. I enjoyed your imagery so much here!

I especially relate to this, E.
I have always felt I was simply a conduit, that the writing doesn't really come from me, but comes to me and through me...
My writing just seems to leak out in raucous drops, then stops.
