dear Gene... I met Roger at "Bronco Billy's" in 1987 with a
Band that arrived at seven pm every night.
I had my eyes on a Cowboy at the end of the Bar.
I asked him to dance, and he said, "Not unless they play
"Because of you, God made Oklahoma". I returned to my
Table, thought for awhile, and then asked the Band to
play that song. I have kept him in Cowboy Boots to this day.
He has kept me "In line" ever since. I think your poem is
very whimsical. truly, Pat

At the time I worked as a Secretary in a Patent and Trademark Law Firm in Washington, D.C. My boss had his birthday party at Bronco Billy's on the corner of 19th and L Street close to the building where we worked at the PTO Law Office. Roz and I decided to ask the two cute guys at the Bar to dance.
I just bought Roger a new pair of Tecovas black leather Cowboy Boots. Love the Country song, "You're the reason God made Oklahoma" and I'm still missing you... a Calico Cat and a two room flat... by David Frizzell and Shelly West. truly, Pat bless you...

This is an awesome share, Pat! Such an inspirational pair, you two! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
There's something about a cowboy that I find most attractive. It's their swagger, the gentlemanly way they walk, and talk in the presence of a woman. The tip of the hat would simply do me in, but what a way to go! Loved this, Gene!

Some folks like it technical fancy and some folks like to know what is coming their way. However will our ballerina and cowboy find a way to make beautiful music together. A wonderful work here. The Bowie accompaniment was a good touch.

One day my neighbor mentioned how she would go to this club and line dance. "You line dance?" I blurted out. Then she showed me some short moves. God, I thought, who would want to dance with a stick like that. "Wow, very nice." I said. All the while knowing she was awful. No sway stepping from her. lol

Somehow I could never imagine John Wayne line dancing but the image of it just now was immensely amusing, he always seemed too awkward with the lady's except with maybe Miss Kitty from Gun smoke...she could do it I bet! She who made it her business to put the cowboys at ease :D I have lined danced tho, and two stepped also but that was some time ago, the only line dancing I do now is in a line at the ladies room door :D

yeah but I still bet she could get him to sashay into line LD
Got this image of John Wayne now.
Always fancied dressing up as a cowboy and being a bronco Billy.
Definitely still romance surrounding cowboys, the last of the wild boys now that we're all suburban jessies now. Plus, a Stetson just makes you look cool.

This is so visual & palpable & nicely paced with an "aw-shucks" kinda cowboy slow-shyness between swaggerin' lines. I love how your poem inspired others into great shares! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Love this 'E'. It is short and the descriptions give the reader no doubt about the picture playing out as the unsophisticated cowboy makes his excuses. Fun and tongue in cheek.
