Plastic

Plastic

A Poem by Einstein Noodle

Plastic

She swallows everything he throws her way,
forcing down the bile of disregard.
Coffee ground  brown
drowning      -     oceans green.
She denied belief in his sidebar glances.
How His calloused heart beat Her!
He cloaks up the Earth.
She swallows real hard.
Cut    -     ragged     -      frayed
edges in the waters.
She beat against the lands with tidal influence.
No avail!
His tide
His  Clorox and Tide refusing refuse negotiations.
He publishes poison.
She uses all Her wiles to wrap an embrace
but its plastic after all.
She tools flowered vines and grasses
falling leaves and animal scent -
tresses ripe golden wheat -
padding soft parts of her feet.

Rising from slumber She sharpens claws
with a red morning sun.
Scratch marks appear like tracks of her tears.
She wants to purr -
- She hooks -
white orbs of migraine!
A breakfast for Him!
A warning.
E.

Sad that we live in a plastic throw away society..what a mess modern mankind has created..and the ocean strives still to caress us with beauty..a hard task for nature to struggle through such disregard and mess..your writing is always so well expressed a delight to read

dear dear E! this is so emotionally brilliant! I never understood, and I can never understand those people who keep throwing everything not just plastic and polluting nature, the Divine She, "He" the human has the choice to fight this action helping Her to stay beautiful, genuine and pure as She always was and shall always be, Your tongue here is absolutely moving, well done my friend.

'She sharpens claws.' Yes, indeed! And when that happens, when she unleashes her awesome power, all we have done to this lovely place will come back to haunt us with a vengeance; and every trace of our species will be gone as if we never existed.

That last verse hits where it should; and hits hard.

I would like to be associated with the remarks of the speaker above. We are ruing everything. Not for us but for the future. We will not be satisfied until we have committed the whole genocide.
A beautiful poem about a brutal subject Gene. One that I know is close to your heart.

You're welcome!
It pains me to think of the huge blob of plastic floating out in the Pacific Ocean, which is what I was envisioning as I read your piercing commentary full of caustic barbs so well flung! This is the best thing I've read about the health of our oceans overall & how we humans run roughshod over the planet gobbling up her resources & spitting them out where the refuse doesn't belong. See, now you've got me all riled up! That's what strong writing does! *wink! wink!* (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

What a superb piece of writing.. written with gentle passion and enormous heart.

Have heard/read:: '.. progress has always caused problems. The present problem is plastic. Next time, it'll be something else to grumble and fuss about.' So much for intelligent thought or caring! We have seas, oceans, rivers, trills etc for abundant reasons, just as we have trees and heights etc. Climate is generated then governed by the all around, not the clouds immediately above OUR heads but about space in different forms. Our planet was given what it deserved/needed to survive.. but Mankind has been destroying it for ever its been a 'possessoni'. Destruction doesn't happen in centuries any more but in decades - and less. Go help clear up your own beaches or special picnic spots, etc. see how Man treats the environment. Those indifferent ignorant people aren't moved by the sight of creatures caught in nets, or with their displayed stomachs ripped by plastic, etc.or how the depths are being drowned by Man's refuse that's moved by what would be kind tides.

Think poets, writers, courageously aware folk - need make far, far more noise. Demand that paper and harmless recycled products be provided. Take containers to places, refuse the use of whatever is manmade, use brain.. and heart. Sorry, I feel so passionately about what you've said with so much heart,

Einstein Noodle. that picture and your wonderful words have 'got me going' We cringe at the sight of a starved animal that's been chained up for most of its life, we weep when we see donkeys loaded with whatever... that is the sight of our world in a short time. creatures of all sizes will be starved of their environment. And who's fault? Hands up.

What a powerful, driving poem awakening the horrors of this world before us. There is a devastation that seems to be rising, and we need every poet to cry out. When I heard that they spotted garbage in the Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench... deepest place in the ocean... I wept. Keep crying out.

Very much agreed
The definition of plastic is superficially attractive yet artificial, false. ( and plastic isn't a biodegradable product)
Your poem is a lamentation of benevolent conscience, about the state of affairs of Mother Nature. The marine life is bearing the brunt of thoughtless acts of human race. Still majority of countries in the world are totally ignoring this serious problem.
