The Maze

The Maze

A Poem by Einstein Noodle

The Maze
frenetic winds like contrails
whispering through the chambers
one man
one woman
turning twisting reaching
                                      rising
falling
hips sway lips say
unknown  -   invisible need moans  -
'round corners of unadorned halls
virgin
empty quiet apprehensions of
two minds tumbled out of a spin cycle
set at opposites
THE DOOR!
18 yr old boy ... 16 yr. old girl ......
facing flint and steel sparks in an instant fade from fire yet
deepening molten embers glow
true light to pierce the time

Hormones race through both parties and the fun begins. Not sure what to do, but they figure it out. Ah, young love. Your words are wonderful.....brought me back to another time. Always have loved that song and Escher was an amazing artist! The entire package is just wonderful, my friend. Lydi**

It is always a great pleasure to read your writings and learn from you, dear E.
dear E... I recently saw Contrails were in a blue sky when the Sun was setting with a persimmon glow... it took my breath away. When I was young, I would cry because I had a Crush on a guy and it hurt so much. There was never a touch, but the passion was intense. The boys suffered a lot... religious schools mess with your mind. As we become older and bolder there is an art to love as fire like a brilliant sunset. Your poem is like striking a gold mine for which I file a Claim. truly, Pat

"Young Love" (First Love)
"We will vow to one another
there will never be another
love for you or for me"

Ah, how can we ever forget the sizzling hormonal passion of our first love, all we learned and shared emotionally, even physically for some … one of my very favorite songs to sing and play. I still often hum, whistle, or sing the melody when working.
And, what a beautifully apt song choice it is, lending atmosphere to your deeply meaningful, heart-touchingly creative poem. Most of us, I am sure, will relate with tender wistfulness, of our blossoming moments' sweet memories.
Original, imaginative, and skillfully displayed, in your own unique style … what more perfect illustration to the labyrinth of first love's intricacies could there be than the Maze of M.C.Escher's "STAIRS".

A most brilliant Free Versing presentation, Gene … truly! ⁓ Richard 🍃

My words are but your inspirations, Dear Friend. : )
The joys of being on the cusp of adulthood, trying to navigate the maze of child and man, knowing what you want but maybe not how, loved the Escher picture, one of my favourite artists, his jigsaws are hard going

Your words are so special. Touching. Real. Magical. Memorable in how it might have been.. for me.

There was nothing as rich as you've so brilliantly laid.. He was my older brother's friend, twenty or so years older than me. He was kind.. made me feel visible. He'd never dare 'try it on', not with Josh's youngest sister! But sometimes he'd give me a little hug or pat my shoulder, only ever that. But, but, BUT one special day, he kissed my cheek and wished me a happy birthday and.. I was in love. Still remember the oddly bubbling yet numbing feeling. There's never been a moment as sweet as that. Yet!

Your words are truly real as reality can be.. Memories lie sleeping so often, almost but not quite hidden. And those are the memories we need cherish, don't you think

I find this very visual Gene. I could actually see it. I could see the way it should be lit and almost who I would cast. The type anyway. This is a real tour de force. Well done my mate. Extraordinary piece. Love the way it is set out as well.

The opening lines are an absolute draw into this twisting tale. Young love at it's brightest perhaps, only to end inevitably, leaving only burning recall?

Neville's visit directed me here Mr E. I am glad of that because those mazes in the mind lead us to some pretty revealing places. I saw young lovers here in the throes of passion and I was reminded of my first love, all that adventure, all that heat transported from years ago. So fresh in my mind, I can smell the sweat on his skin and feel his touch on my cheek. I am more than happy about that, he died at twenty six. You have evoked much emotion in me this morning. A great write, to do that.
