The Maze

The Maze

A Poem by Einstein Noodle

The Maze
frenetic winds like contrails
whispering through the chambers
one man
one woman
turning twisting reaching
                                      rising
falling
hips sway lips say
unknown  -   invisible need moans  -
'round corners of unadorned halls
virgin
empty quiet apprehensions of
two minds tumbled out of a spin cycle
set at opposites
THE DOOR!
18 yr old boy ... 16 yr. old girl ......
facing flint and steel sparks in an instant fade from fire yet
deepening molten embers glow
true light to pierce the time

I dunno why but I just come over all emotional, and that aint like me.. I was hoping I might find something new from ya Gene, and blimey.. some find.. this must surely rank among my favourite poems of yours my friend... bloomin well done might sound like a cliche methinks, but tis part of me now and I sincerely mean, bloomin well done... Maybe I am beginning to feel my years and hanker after moments past.. but you sure got me this mane.... Am bound to revisit this page over and over... Neville :)

can you expand on the sadness you felt? i am curious about that, Cassie ...

understanding your forst sensual emotions is indeed like finding your way through a maze, never quite knowing the right way forward and feeling unsure as to the rising heat that drives you on ... until, the damn bursts and the first real afterglow is the path you were inadvertently seeking..

Honestly. ... emotive for the strangest reasons. ... I didn't hear echoes of my own love-past. .... but imagined my mother and birth-father.
The ages are right... however their light did not pierce time... it shone until I was 2.
Emotive write my friend.

Memory lane of youth who went through the motions and emotions. I love how you narrate the story and feed us with great wisdom lessons. How things change and evolve! How the maze is unknown and then is solved! Memory can indeed pierce the time and go through the emotions. Your style sir is original and unique.

Even tho this is about "young love" . . . it could be about any age love. I love the way you use the artwork & theme of "maze" to describe how tangled up it can feel. I am catching a hint of danger here, as well as the simmering passions. I hate to say this, but I had a fleeting moment when I was thinking of two young lovers in a crowded place with multiple floors/stairs, torn between the attraction they have for each other & then having that moment ripped apart by a mass shooting. It's so sad that this is so top-of-mind these days, I can't even read a poem without having it cross my mind! But I'm more likely to read "danger" as being the unpredictability of young love, not a mass shooting! I love your writing & the way you use single-word lines for emphasis (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

You deal with this eternal theme beautifully. And Escher's 'going up' and 'going down' at the same time' print, reflects the precariousness of our first attractions. A change of voice? Good for you.
