No sharper edges wrought to cleave those bindings;
locking the pain with loss and despair
another had won her love.
disregard replete; he moves
one to another, another; and another
now in bliss, remiss of those memories,
he weds while broken stems alter Sunrise
no longer kissing their lips
hands only brushed the pearl of their veils now
fingered shards, shred them to shrouds
three to cover each.

*the first two verses were one of those "flash inspirations" one has the tendency to think they are genius, only to throw them out when read later ..i know you all know what i mean ... but i didn't throw them out because it "felt" right .. so i added the second two verses ... trying to say the same thing in a bit different way ... would love to know your thoughts on them
Dear Mr E. I found your poem moving. It also brought a memory back of an aunt by marriage I was very fond of. She really cared for me at a time my parents were 400miles away. I was young. She said to me to hang on to my man and look after him because there were other women round every corner waiting to prise him away. She wasn't wrong there, that's exactly what happened.
That loss is incredibly difficult to deal with, there was much pain and I sensed that in your lines you yourself understand that loss. Loving someone who doesn't feel the same way about you sucks. Sometimes you may meet someone else, but that broken trust shatters the heart and it takes one hell of a lot of glue to stick it back together.
Do not bin this piece. You have much to say here. This reader fekt your words on an emotional level.

God bless you and big hugs girl ... (if that's ok)

I’m glad you saved the first two verses, they are a great lead-in, and since you asked, I think less cluttered thought than the last two.

Excellent work with "Affairs", Einstein. I too have thought on such disasters as follow lowly humans around like lost puppies. You nailed it. For every happy heart, another succumbs to heartbreak. Life and love come with no guarantees -- so many people never learn that. I finally dropped out of the world's favorite pastime. Anything worth having hurts too much to leave behind. But, my own disappointments have helped polish up my metaphors for WC. Fav line: Sunrise could not find him in heart's shadow. This is a keeper. -- Doug

The one that got away....I remember this like it was yesterday. The want and the lust followed by the "Oh no she chose some one else" This piece of poetry brought back some feelings of the past. Very well done.

There was a particular girl I was fond of for years but it was wasted thoughts. She wound up with someone else and put me in the friend-zone. That hurts. I've gotten over it but I remember the feelings well. Don't delete any of this, it's all important.

dear Gene... I do understand how men and women hurt each other when
sharing intimate times together. Even without the physical moments, we can hurt each other, because love can be shown by sharing close encounters, by baring ones soul and experiences. If two people have only been intimate with one partner, that is beautiful. However, it is not necessary to feel guilty if two people grow out of love, and choose to make another life. I do believe if children are involved, they need to be responsible for them. Unless we have walked in someone's Moccasins, it is difficult to Judge. There is a lot of heartbreak in the naked city. I fear Wars and violence more than anything. Hurt to think how children and fine people are abused with trafficking and so forth. These are the things we may be able to help to a certain extent when we vote at the voting booths and try to be for the less fortunate and also preserve the many years it has taken to build our country in a civilized environment... where free enterprise is preserved. Others can learn trades and be Farmers and provide healthy meats and produce. Amen
truly, Pat

this is so moving...she moves on, finds another. For him, there is no other to love as much, and what love he finds is second best, does not make him happy. It is like Stephen Stills sang.."if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with."
torture, pure torture.
and i am glad you didn't toss those first two stanzas...
