I love this video I have watched it many times before and I’ve watched the bald headed eagles in Alaska the most beautiful powerful mystical being ever- sacred to the cultures up Nirth- their piercing cries warns and challenges the spirit as the fly free the king above many- one thing in life we can only be certain of is change- not always easy but best for growth and destiny- difficult paths lead to beautiful places- from pain comes beauty- wonderful words-🌹

I only learned about haiku earlier today.
3 lines,
5,7,5 syllables
Nature themed
This fits the form/pattern accurately.
I enjoyed that I remembered and thoroughly enjoyed this piece as a result.

I'm not a good judge on haikus, but I really like this. That poor creature below our hero, not so much. Have a good day, sir.

That so reminded me of an experience I had walking down a trail about a mile from my house exactly! First i saw the shadow then he swooped right in front of me and grabbed a snake from the ground all in one fluid motion I was dumbstruck as the snake was still wriggling in his talons flying away. we have a nesting pair by the river that are very famous around here called the hays woods eagles we have hidden camera... http://aswp.org/pages/hays-nest Pittsburgh has come a long way from the billowing smoke stacks and pollution we were once noted for:) perfect Haiku Mr. noodle

I could see the bird soaring high looking down upon some helpless little rabbit. Nice haiku 'E'

HAIKUS are an endless canvas. Asking for balance and screaming with power.
The video is a perfect coupling for your poem
And if a thermal I could climb I'd ride the wind and chase my shadow.

A very haunting and beautiful video, and what a lovely idea for the re-birth of this magnificent bird.

I'll admit, my internet has been so spotty for months, I haven't been likely to click on videos, but this one is well worth it. Nice to be back to the living, as far as modern computer & internet *wink! wink!* Since I've been aware of Native American spirituality since my 30's, I've known the meaning of eagle, which is similar to Great Spirit, in my mind. The way your poem is stated, it suggests that Great Spirit (thru messenger Eagle) throws shadows on our lives. People question this like it shouldn't happen. But why not? Life is for learning. Are we supposed to be coddled thru it? Then your last line is a little ambivalent in my mind, as far as suggesting that the eagle may be taking food FROM me or FOR me . . . an interesting juxtaposition with regard to seeing Eagle as messenger of Great Spirit. All in all, it's pretty remarkable to summon this much in my early-morning mind with only 17 syllables *wink! wink!* (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
