and yet there is a space between the transiency of our human observations and the transmigration of our souls to other more adaptable paradises. That's why poets use, as a meridian of sacrifice, all the axes of memory to allow the crossing of un-related events to become power: a mothers wisdom, the fragrance of hemlocks, wild horses.
Great poems never asks use why we've been transformed only to believe that such a transformation indeed has happened......dana

I too can appreciate your scarcity of words and the power of keeping things simple. When you can glean so much meaning out of minimal, but powerfully impacting words then writing becomes a true art and craft.
This piece reminded me of growing up with my mom in the midwest and all her knick-knacky trinkets of sentiment about our home. The rustic assemblage of lower middle class life just getting by...
Life is more than stuff accumulated but to pay tribute to the few items which surround us that have meaning is to also pay homage to those in our lives who touched us by sharing in our lives.

All too real at times, E.....your words brought me back to the day Salvation Army took my Daddy's Lazy Boy recliner down the stairs and into their truck. It was as if my heart was being ripped out of my chest. Indeed, all transient things, but the memories, they are forever, E....never to be taken from us. This one touched my heart. Lydi**

Transient things - if only we could all understand that transient is what we all are, perhaps we would not cling so dearly to all that is unnecessary.
In your usual style E. Something I can learn from. Your sparsity of words always attracts. This poem made me think of you in your home, setting out for a day of work with your trusty companion.
I am just unsure of he introduction of the words me and she - I stumbled a bit when I reached them and had to back track. I wonder if you need them?
The picture you paint here has an air of mystique and creates a sense of time and place uncommon in this day and age - I like it X

to me, everything is transient, nothing lasts forever, but the impressions do...the people, their actions, their effect on our lives, those last...even what seems to be the most mundane will later feel as important as winning a lottery.
nicely done---in the top title there is an extra "C"---..and those things of comfort...you remind me of the afghans my mother used to make for me....i would wear them out and ask for another, and she would be so pleased---this poem reminds me a bit of Alice Walker's story "Everyday Use" --so much importance that we need to place on heritage.

It's all outstanding; the collage, the video, and especially the poem. And, such fitting words for the new year. The vivid imagery, especially in the first part of the poem struck me. It seems to fit where I imagine you live. You convey so well the reality of time and life, and the fleeting nature. It's a solemn, peaceful, humble tone throughout. Masterful art, sir. Thanks for sharing.

I don't understand "wild horse winds with death"..
or what rope you are pulling on...
..but I do know about memories of childhood..
A Blue Tea Set, blond dolls..little horses..little houses..and playing till the sun went down..jump ropes..and checkers.. and MOM..
and blankets made just for me, with love....
I guess you are remembering bits and pieces of a lifetime...and how they play behind your eyes..
Thanks for sharing your heart..and your memories..
I like the part about Mother's clear blue twinkles' gleam.. it's as if you see her as a star after sunsets..

It's the transient that frames the ever present... adds sparkle to what's loved but perhaps taken forgranted.. maybe. I love the picture of past gifts that still remain precious, that surround your body and heart, mind and being with the Past
'.Red, yellow, umber burnt ~ caress the damp and sky ~ Mother's clear blue twinkles' gleam ~ She had no need for words ~ She spoke language.' And, so do you, so do you.
You write so delicately in this poem, tis as if you're stroking what means the most. A beautiful read, dear friend. Smiling here, happy me. Thank you.
