Hey E, I think the repetition is so dead on. They are all repeat performances of the last one plus a little extra. I doubt we even have an election this year. We don't choose who the next idiot is, they do. I don't even vote anymore. Nothing to vote for, except more of the same BS which I'm totally disgusted with. It's about to get even uglier, my friend. But, it is always darkest before the dawn. Sometimes people have to it bottom before they stand. We will stand again :)

This, (as intended perhaps) made me dizzy. It does indeed spin around meaning. Perhaps I need to be a Yank as my mother used to call the soldiers over here during the war. I like the subtle policticalism of this. Social comment made art. Good idea and works well. Reminds me of the old joke about knowing when a politician is lying. I see now the confusion I felt was a part of the effect. Excellent.

"The Donald" takes the oath today ...and he has already delivered on the jobs and keeping our companies based here .. it is just a start; but he did it! and not even in office yet! so we shall wait and see ... its mawvelous to get your Highland opinion my friend ..thank you

I have an admission to make to you dear friend. I am a life long socialist. I am not ashamed of that.. read moreI have an admission to make to you dear friend. I am a life long socialist. I am not ashamed of that but it does mean that I am not really enamoured of Donald. He does concern me. I don't really find his mysoginist stances and his name calling somewhat troublesome. In the same way I find my own Conservative government troubling. I was a remainer in the recent referendum to stay in the EU. I think politicians have their own agenda that doesn't tally with my working class background. I also firmly believe that anyone who actively seeks power should be denied it on principle.
Having said that I think that enlighted discussion between friends is important. Friendship is more than differing opinions. Argument is not name calling as it seems to be in the most recent political arguements. In fact I find enlightened arguement fascinating. If I take up a contrary position to you it does not mean that I dislike you. Or it shouldn't do. Intelligence should be a talisman against bigotry and violent words.
I am in essence an internationalist not an insularist. I feel that the world is what matters in the 21st century not the obscene fact that 5% of the population control 99% of this beautiful planets wealth. However I also believe that given the way we are using up the worlds resources some serious thought should be given to population control across the globe. This of course is not for me I hasten to add. I belong to the generation that has most made a mess of things and I won't be here much longer.
I am also an aetheist or humanist if you like. Although I was a staunch churchgoer in my past. I was even an accolite and crucifer at my local parish church as a youngster. what I did here was find out as much about religion as I could. All religions not just Christianity. There were some tenets that I could and do wholeheartedly support, Love the neighbour as thyself for instance. But some I could not. The fact remains that I believe all religious texts were written by humans and exclusively by men. That is all accepted texts. I am thinking particularly about the Gospel according to Mary Magdelen in the Nag Harramabbi scrolls.
In short what I am saying, (or ranting about here) is the fact that whilst I respect your political and religious views they are not mine. But I am minded rather pompously of what Voltaire said "I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"
I am sorry for ranting here my dear friend but I felt it necessary to enlighten you as to my beliefs and 'highland opinions'. It does not mean that our friendship is dead (I sincerly hope). In fact quite the contrary. I think that friendship should thrive on enlighted, not force fed, differences. Thank you for giving me the space to do it. Please feel free to delete the above from what is your page as well. I should not really speak out on someone else's space.

This describes politics to me,, we had an election here as well. No-one was interested We are tired of everything and all politicians. Your politics rates well here as well, everything stays the same. We get promises but nothing is ever done.
I like they way you entwind the metaphoor of a swirling tornado. Everytime one comes there is always a mess to clean up.

The spin cycles, the repetition of lies, the boring and disgusting news and so forth. The political circus is going and the powers that be wants to feed us certain agendas. Follow the money trail and the propoganda to see the whole truth before it is too late. What a powerful message...Excellent, sir...:)........................

So true. God help us. You are welcome...:)..................
Repetitions definitely work for me, but that doesn't matter - it's what works for YOU and your poem. :) We, the readers, are at your mercy, so write what is most meaningful and effective in YOUR eyes. Anyway... I do like the repetition and the slanting of the words. It adds emphasis to these parts, gives the poem an almost tornadoey (that's a new word as of now) shape, and to me, adds a visual element of the "spinning" you describe. It's kind of like in a cartoon where a character is spinning around and around for whatever reason, and you see their head or some other body part pop out of the jumbled mess for an instant before disappearing and reappearing in another place. It's like we're seeing the words coming back around again and again as they spin. Does that make any sense? It's a bit difficult to describe. But anyway... I have to admit, the message behind this poem is beyond me. I'm not overly well-versed in politics, which may be a factor, but I do get the feeling that there is an interesting story behind this. I like the chaotic manner in which it is written. Nice work!

Spin doctors they are for sure. It is amazing how they can switch positions with a 180 degrees turn when the polls tell them so.
I like it how the repetition evokes the feeling you often have that politics is always the same rubbish going around and around.
Well done.
