Footstool (in collaboration with Zahra and advise from Arturo)

A Poem by Einstein Noodle

The Footstool

with grandiose beginnings
wrapping three walls
plied high with pillows
Ottomane of velours d'Utrecht

life continues its pirouette,
igniting an ignis fatuus
shapes generating and erasing each other,
there is dark - and light there is

as if our cosmos filtered
on point
lift your tired feet
place them on my back

as God is man finding place
earth his footstool
engineered within such architecture
we become grains of heaven

Engineered within such architecture

I feel this line encompasses the entire poem...a hand behind the creation of Earth, urging it to move...

But it is as you both have said (very eloquently), we are the Greater God's footstool, until we humble ourselves before God and creates again - this time transforming who we are into something beautiful...

Had to smile at this one, nothing like a man's feet up on that footstool after a long days work and a hearty meal. See...you have me missing someone. Valentine

There is both romance and spirituality in this incredible write. "Life your tired feet"....so comforting. We all have bits of heaven within us....we all can make other people's lives easier.....if we choose to. Beautifully written. Lydi**

Something so beautifully constructed as the Earth and the Cosmos in Utrecht velvet yet there is the struggle with good and evil and even faith itself. For if God was grandiose when he created Earth and uses earth as his footstool he is indeed perhaps a tad pompous and self indulgent. Perhaps too much to believe in? Whatever this is an excellent work with lovely metaphors that stimulate images and thoughts galore.

I love the final stanza. Very concrete image of (a man made) God using earth as a footstool.

This is one fine looking room. I love the carpet and color scheme but, my blond hair and blue eyes would not be accepted very well. What if I was to ride up with two camels and to make one of them a gift camel?

your making my day now ... i think you would be assured access to some quarters .. some not ;)
There are some really wonderful lines in these fabulous piece, and so I find myself unable to pick any one favourite.... "Grains of Heaven" remindes me of the concept of Atonement, man becoming equal to the Gods....
In this universe, there are shapes that encompass light and there are shapes encompassing darkness--the two polarities-- that attempt to erase the contributions made by the other...life ignited with a grand beginning, but now that fire dwindles day by day. Engineered within this paradoxial world, we strive to become a part of Him who constitutes each one of us....
Breathtakingly beautiful!!
