A Twenty-two Year Old's Mind

A Twenty-two Year Old's Mind

A Poem by F.Gentil
"

I'm just wondering if anybody else feels this way.

"
In what country do I now live in?
Prying eyes watch me all the time.
I feel like I was implemented in 1984,
Orwell seemed to have predicted this right?

The people are so afraid.
Everyone is in denial of this welfare state.
Just to keep the masses misinformed
The powers cause racial tension to form.

I watch getting sicker as the days pass.
Twenty-two watching all my friends become crass,
Losing their minds to the elephant and the a*s.
Life so lost from ecstasy to grass.

It used to be natural, now its being tainted,
Creating addicted zombies who smoke until their "faded"
Jaded, everyone becoming second rated.
Remind me please of the name of this nation.

My spirit feels so very ancient,
I mean like a spirit of warning,
Alarming the masses, from a serpent that's charming.
Let me see if I can put this in perspective.

How do you feel today, are you happy or sad,
On a spectrum were you full of happiness or raging mad,
And what was the cause that made you enraged or glad,
Was it dealing with technology/music/money/ clothing that you had.

Take a second to understand the wool being put over your eyes.
Its all but an illusion, to be susceptible to the lies.
We are loosing our lives, we are a calculated risk
The number of artists who aren't afraid to speak up to this.
Is becoming limited.

The gut feeling,
 that you are feeling
Is your intuition,
Please pay attention

Lose your life you find another,
Lose your self, you save another,
Hold you tongue you lose your life,
When your freedom is gone you'll pay the price.

I agree with the thoughts in the poem. 1984 is here and big Brother is watching.
"My spirit feels so very ancient,
I mean like a spirit of warning,"
I like your description of life and how people forgot freedom of thoughts and action. Last lines is face.
"Hold you tongue you lose your life,
When your freedom is gone you'll pay the price. '
Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I have found myself looking at the world around me and feeling this exact way. There are so many evils in this nation and in the world, but I always have faith through God. This was a lovely, thought-provoking piece. (:
