I glared at him. “Well, you’re not exactly light on your feet either, bud.” He made another deep noise and pushed me off of him. Soon, just as he had promised, the train suddenly slowed to a stop at station N, throwing me the other way. Foster sharply tossed his head back, sending his dark hair backwards. I couldn’t get over how adorable he looked when he was flustered. I also couldn’t get over the fact that he actually smiled at me. Why did he do that? I thought about asking him, and I would have, if not for the rush of people. Through the midst of the crowd pushing and shoving their way in and out of the train, I felt someone grab hold of me and start pulling me off the bench. I cried out Foster’s name and he quickly reached over and grabbed the person’s wrist and forcefully yanked them off of me. I quickly slid back into the seat and quietly uttered a thank you.

Foster got comfortable again and said, “Some people are just a little too clingy.” I nodded but didn’t say anything. Once again, Foster had saved me from some dark, otherwise unavoidable fate. The last thing I wanted was to be stranded in some Japanese-Russian airport by myself. I sat quietly the rest of the time, being pulled side to side by the force of the train. All the time, the only thing I could think about was how to get back to my friends. May, my sister, and Lucas. I wondered if they were out looking for me.

Probably not.

I sighed in disappointment. Knowing my friends, they would probably sit around wondering about me for a while, and then just forget about me. I know that true friends wouldn’t do that, but the truth is, I don’t have any true friends. Because I’m not a popular girl at my school, I’m forced to find the other people who don’t hang out with the popular crowed and be friends with them. I slumped a bit and closed my eyes, the burning sensation in the back of them. Foster must have looked at me, because I felt him slide closer and he asked, “What’s wrong with you?” I know he meant well with that question, but the way he said it stung and I said, “Nothing. Forget about it. Forget about me, okay?” I opened my eyes and said, “Take me back, Foster. I’m not going home to anyone who cares. Just let them kill me. My grandfather won’t pay whatever they want to get me back. I’m not worth it to him.” Foster looked at me in confusion, then opened his mouth, but all he got out was "D..Dawn.." I shook my head and glared at him now. "Just take me back, Foster. Do it." All the poor boy could do was stare.
