Beautiful MusicA Poem by Foster LThere’s a suffocating kind of beauty in the things that are so stunning they make your stomach ache. A song plays The singer breathes the lyrics in such a way that makes you feel like You’ve been punched in the stomach. It’s horrid. You love it.
You listen to the words and their so tragic they take your breath away leaving you panting and gagging and begging for more Please You ask yourself how one voice could be so wretched, so gorgeous You listen and the way your body and mind react is so wrong, so wrong But you crave it because it’s the only thing that feels right.
The words linger in your mind long after the music is gone, leaving nothing more than an echo. A whisper of a voice that was barely a murmur to begin with. Words like poison and wine ring through your thoughts, sending your mind spinning. Shivers down your spine are the white noise that completes the symphony enfolding you. Hands shake as you are sent into another place another time. A world where the sun sets amid hurricanes and the flowers bloom throughout snowstorms. A horrible place you refuse to enter, one you dread leaving.
The songs that keep you up for days are the same ones that put you to sleep at night. The melodies are so simple and peaceful, with the meanings so dark and complex. Your mind is reeling, when all your body asks is that you Sleep now and forever hold your peace.
