SHADOWS

The past I buried and left behind, but

The shadows were with me all the time

 

You may think they belonged to me, yes

But the shadows, they were not mine

 

No sunlight, no moonlight, day or night

Could make the shadows disappear  

 

Couldn’t run away, so I shut my eyes

But then I found them in my mind

 

So I embraced them and let them be

And I was open to shadows of all kind

 

Thus the shadows that once haunted me

Became memories that life made me climb

I've heard it said time heals all pain...I believe in time these shadows will reveal themselves and in the light they are no longer shadows..just memories to keep and hold and hopefully remember with a smile.
