THE VICEGERNT

THE VICEGERNT

A Poem by WILDERNESS

I live in a world of deception and ruse

Have shut my eyes from the truth.

Money will buy happiness, I believe

Devious plans of richness, I conceive.

All pleasures are for body in whole

Nothing for the thirsty starving soul.

We are slaves to our cardinal desires

Chasing fantasies, playing with fires.

Look what has man turned into,

Machine for five days, animal for two.

My divine wings have burned,

Into animal or worse I have turned.

The vicegerent of God, once raised high,

Now the angels look at me and sigh.

Powerful words...I can feel the emotion in your writing. I enjoyed this well written verse - the last few lines are perfection. :) Julie

Am humbled by your review................. thanks so much Ms J.
Yes ... like hamsters in a wheel, we go around and around and around in that never-ending cycle of work to play and work to pay. I find the quiet moments give me the solace of self that feeds the soul. It's the quiet moments that I love the most.
