A Poem by WILDERNESS

Palestine

(Adapted from ‘Kamlee’)

All set to depart to the city called Palestine

I went to my old man to say goodbye

He held my hand and said,

“Tell me when you return”,

How many doors and windows has that city

How many bricks are intact and how many broken

How many wells are sweet and how many sour

How many girls married and how many maiden

As I wandered thru’ the land of the prophets

Questions nagging in the back of my mind

Till I met an old man like my own

And repeated the questions asked of me.

“Tell him”, he said looking into my eyes,

There are thousands of windows and doors

But most are shut from outside, unlike yours.

Those used by the fighters are broken

Rest all the bricks are intact for now.

The ones that served the martyrs are sweet

Most other wells taste bitter and salty, and

Those waiting beside the doors are married

Rest all of  the girls are maiden still.

As I read, my minds eye..saw the photographs of what Palestine use to be, what an old man would remember of his youth..looking out at what is now.. So sad. Great poem..

Yes its a living tragedy .................... thanks for nice words
Knowing that Palestine is a country that was once ,simply beautiful and free.
It is not easy through what Palestinian's are passing through today.
May peace not be an imagination floating in our heads, and for once and all may it be vividly perceived by our eyes.
Simply incredibly written my friend:)

I pray your every word comes true....................... thank you for kind words.
There will never be peace among men who do not value human life, all human life. One cannot profess a desire for peace when calling for the death of another. The majority of people want to live a peaceful life, and they want a peaceful future for their children. When those in power call for the death in the name of God, any god, he is wishing death upon himself. Governments and those in power pull at ordinary men like puppets on a string. As long as we dance the dance of puppets, they will always have the upper hand. In the name of every child ever born and ever to be, in the name of every drop of blood wept upon the sand, in the name of all that's precious in this world, I wish peace for one and all.
