The wretched heart

The wretched heart

A Poem by WILDERNESS

The bees

Store honey in the bee-hives

Only

To sweeten the pastry and the pie

The rose

Got plucked from the branch

Only

To adorn the garland of a bride

The apple

Fell from the twig

Only

To fill the hands of a child

The sunshine

Left the sun’s gravity

Only

To light up our earth and beyond

Wont you,

My wretched heart,

Give up a little

To make someone’s life worthwhile

Wow so wonderful! I loved the way you described how nature has given humans pleasure in many forms. This poem has a philosophical touch to it. Really enjoyed reading it. :-)

I like the way you ended the poem, I wasn't expecting that. I like poems that do that. Makes me think. Thanks for sharing.
