A DAY TO FORGET

A DAY TO FORGET

A Poem by WILDERNESS
"

This poem was inspired by a scene I saw beside the highway, sometime back. Though I wrote it many months back, did not publish it 'cause it is so sad. But here it is for all and sundry to read now....

"

A Day To Forget

The sun hid behind the cloud

The wind ceased to blow

The little boy stood on the roadside

calling his mother on the far side

with speeding cars in between

and a desire to reach mom's arms.

Sensing the impending danger

Stay there”, she yelled at him.

The little boy wouldn’t wait

And the cars won’t let up

Speeding past on the highway

Oblivious of the mother and child.

Her heart raced and palms sweated

Frantically waving the cars to stop,

Motioning the boy to stay put, but

He just wants to be with her.

The boy looked at his mother

and Closed his eyes,

then ran across the road.

She screamed, and fell down

The sun hid behind the cloud

The wind ceased to blow

Oh no! ...so sad. I like the Irony in the title...A day to Forget, yet this would be the most unforgettable day for the mother. Very touching.

Yes, sometimes life turns very hard and sad ..................... thanks for reviewing.
Although a very sad piece you have expressed yourself through your amazing gift of poetry. This is such a sad, personal write, one that is filled with much pain, felt in each word spoken. This is an unfortunate tragedy, especially since it involves a child, leaving you to witness it, helplessly. Something like this stays with us forever, but glad to see you releasing your thoughts.....thanks for sharing something I know was difficult to write about, that in itself shows great strength, courage, and a sense of healing. Well done, my friend.

Thanks a lot
The mind wants to lay blame instead of dealing with the raw pain.
