LAYERS

LAYERS

A Poem by WILDERNESS
"

I am keen to know my real self but first I must remove these layers over me

"
LAYERS

Take Off Your Layers One By One
You Will Find Him When There's None
You Are Not What You Seem
Neither Are You That You Feel
The Layers You Added Over All These Years
Resulted From Your Likes And Your Fears
The World Around You Has Shaped You
The True Meaning Of Life Has Escaped You

So Go On My Friend, Take Off Those Layers
You Know What They'll Say, Who Cares
Start With That Look You Call Your Face
It Has A Name But Not The Grace
The Titles You Carry Throw Them Away
Let The Wind Of Times Hold You Sway
Forget About Your Posture Or Your Cast
The Molded Body Will Leave You At Last
Shed The Demeanor They Had You Trained
All That Knowledge That You Have Gained
Rip Off The Status You Think You Own
It Made Your Heart That Of Stone

With Every Layer Removed, You Stand Bare
Wondering! Whats Left For Me To Stare
Look No More, Just Feel Your Breath
At Last You Have Found The Real Wealth
That What You Are, That You Always Were
The Divine Soul So Pure, Here And Forever

Simply amazing! As the poem progresses it becomes powerful with every word. One of the best poems on self-discovery that I have read.

I am remiss that I have not read more of your writing, maybe a few things before spending time away.
Your fine poem has drawn me to think out loud about layers.
A seed is the genesis of an onion…many gardeners grow onions from small bulbs not really even considering their shortcut taken to achieve a larger multi-layered onion…when all the many layers are peeled back the essence of the core is found within those layers…and yet the seeds left behind from the top of the greens move the essence of that core to the next generation as the circle continues...
