People Say They Know You

I wrote this when I first came out as bisexual.

People say they know you,

But you know that’s not true.

People say they love you,

But do they even know you?

People say they know me,

Like I know myself.

If that’s the case,

They don’t know me at all.

I don’t know who I am,

I don’t know whom I love,

I don’t know if I’m straight,

But I know I’m in love.

People say they know me,

Know if I’m straight or gay,

But when you get to it,

No one knows me that way.
