Meeting GLOW

Meeting GLOW

A Chapter by Noah Scott

“Where is he?” I ask myself, tired of waiting in the cold, snow covered woods. As soon as I say it, I see three figures in the tree in front of me, cloaked in black. Then I see them, the glowing blue eyes. “There you are.” I whisper, taking my aim right at his leg.
After I shoot, I see him fall to the earth, and yell when he makes impact with the frozen ground. One of them yells something as they jump to the ground. GLOW starts talking to them, and as they look at me, all he says is, “Get ‘im.”
One of them came at me. And faster than I could react, he knocked me out with one blow.

When I wake up, I’m tied to a chair in a crowd of people, blue-eyed people. They’re all either smirking or glaring at me as two come toward me, one of them is wearing a hood. They stop in front of me and the one in the hood starts speaking, “So you’re the one they sent after me?” he spoke, smirking at the thought of it.
He’s removed his hood so that I can see his face. It’s young still, younger than myself by at least a few years. And even in the light, his eyes still glowed. He’s gone from smirking to glaring, narrowing his eyes at me.
“So you’re a tracker?” he asks, though it’s obviously not an actual question. He turns to the crowd now, “What’d you think guys?” he asks as he puts his hands up at the question. In response, the crowd has started laughing. He finally speaks again saying, “What’re we gonna do with him boys?” a devious smirk running across his face.
“Nothing.” comes a voice from the balcony behind him, a voice that makes GLOW’s eyes widen. Now it’s my turn to smirk. The man on the balcony turns to GLOW, “You, go change, then come upstairs.” As he does so, “James, bring him upstairs too.” At this, a man that looks very much like GLOW steps forward to untie me and lead me upstairs.
As I entered the room behind the balcony, I find that it’s just the man from earlier. “Those cuffs aren’t necessary.” he says. As James unlocks the cuffs, a girl enters the room. She’s young, about 18 or 19. She, like James, looks unbelievably similar to GLOW. Short black hair and, like everyone else, blue eyes.
“I apologize for Mara’s behavior earlier.” says the man. I stare at him in confusion before the girl says, “Mara is who you know as GLOW.” she explained, “The person you had the gall to shoot in the leg.” she added, glaring.
The man gave her a look that said “shut up”, which worked. He continued saying, “Forgive her, Mara’s just a little sore,” he said, “in more ways than one.” he chuckled.
“Wait,” I said, turning to the girl, “you’re Mara?” I asked incredulously, “You are GLOW?” There wasn’t an answer for a few seconds, then, “Well yeah.” she said, looking at me as if it were common knowledge. Only then did I notice that her eyes were indeed glowing.
